What is Meta Tags and Why we use meta tags?
Meta tags are simple tags, With the help of meta tags we can tell to search engines about the page. We use meta tags for a web page because we need to rank in search result. If we do not put meta tags on a page then web page is not rank. We have to put our main keyword of the page in meta tags. This tells to search engine that this page is about that keyword. If someone search for that keyword then our web page will shows in search result.
Types of Meta Tags
Title Tag– Title tags tell search engines what your page is about. And provide all information about web pages for the search engines crawler and website users. It also indicates that users have to visit the website or not. Ideally it is not longer than 70 characters.

Description tag-Meta descriptions are HTML attributes that provide concise explanations of the contents of web pages. It helps our website in three ways
1- Clearly indicate what is the page about
2- Increase your website click through rate
3- It also help website ranking and help to up.
The robots meta tags tells search engine that web page is index by search engine crawler or not.

Explanation- The above code shows that do not index the page and do not follow the link on that page.
2-<META NAME=”ROBOTS” CONTENT=”INDEX, NOFOLLOW”>
EXPLANATION- The above code shows that do index the content of the web page and do not follow the link of the page.
3-<META NAME=”ROBOTS” CONTENT=”INDEX, FOLLOW”>
EXPLANATION- The above code shows that content and link of the web page is follow and index.
Authorship Markup tags
Google is announce that those content which are connected to authorship profile is rank well
Rel –Author– In this tag author G+ profile is connected to content you can connect that in the head and following tag is connect

Facebook metadata is indicates to user how your content shows on users timeline. If we are not using facebook metadata then facebook is automatically take picture and meta of your content. Facebook gives that tag name is open graph tags.
